the Idea : Industry Agreements (Actors, In-House ITV 3)
The Walk-ons Agreement provides for engagement of walk-ons at three levels:
(1) crowd; (2) identifiable but non-speaking individuals; and (3) identifiable
individuals required to speak a few words of unimportant dialogue.
Minimum rates of pay for day and night work are defined,
as are overtime rates and additional payments for use of the walk-onās work
in more than one episode of a series, and for work on public holidays or on
night calls. These rates also buy all the necessary consents to enable the
producing ITV Company to make use of the recorded performance.
Walk-ons in category 1 are not entitled to repeat fees (unless
the repeat takes place
more
than five years from the first transmission), but those in the other two categories
are, according to a formula set out in the agreement. Under this formula,
the repeat fees vary according to whether the programme is repeated over only
part or the whole of the ITV network (or on Channel 4), and according to the
time at which the repeat transmission takes place.
Walk-ons are not entitled to further payment in respect of
overseas sales of the programme.
Like the Main Agreement, the Walk-ons Agreement contains
a great deal of practical detail.
