Managing Media Projects - Managing the People : Outline Guide (Production Office and Crew, An Independent Production, 2)

This agreement caters for the production of feature films as well as every genre of television programme. It provides for individuals to be engaged by the day or by the week, with weekly engagements able to start on any day of the week and either for a specified number of weeks or subject to termination by notice on either side.

For different levels of minimum daily or weekly fee, it allows the working day or week to range from 8 to 12 hours (daily), and from 40 to 72 hours (weekly). It allows weekly engagements to be based on either five-day or six-day working weeks.

It provides for additional flat-rate payments for working hours or days regarded as unsocial (eg nights or public holidays), and for additional payments related to the individual’s basic rate for working hours over and above those specified in the engagement (ie overtime).

It goes into a great deal of detail in relation to such matters as travel conditions and how travelling time relates to working hours, holiday payment, insurance provisions, breaks (overnight breaks, weekend breaks, meal breaks), and all the many other matters that may crop up in the range of engagements and productions for which the agreement caters.
