The agreement covers:

• incidental music for single programmes and series,
• signature tunes,
• short items from productions rehearsed and produced by organisations other than the BBC for inclusion in news, magazine, documentary, educational, religious, critical etc programmes,
• broadcasts (live or deferred) of public performances, including opera and ballet, promoted either by the BBC or by other organisations,
• recording music in vision or miming in vision to music already recorded, for drama productions.

The detail of the agreement includes provision for:

• the use of extracts from programmes containing music recorded under the agreement,
• the use of the music recorded for a programme in trailers,
• the recording and use of backing tracks
• layered recording and overdubbing.
