that actors thus engaged may be required to work. It sets out minimum fees for each type of engagement, and overtime rates for additional working hours. (In practice, more established actors negotiate fees above the minimum, usually through their agents.) It does this for single dramas, series and serials. It also sets minimum fees for the engagement of actors whose performances will be included in more than one episode of a series (multi-episodic use).

The agreement contains special rates for programmes intended for regional, rather than network, transmission on terrestrial television, for programmes intended to be transmitted only outside peak hours, and for programmes designated as educational.

If you are intending to engage child actors, you should note that special legal provisions relating to the employment of minors will come into play.

The agreement also caters for the engagement of session singers, dancers and voice-over artists.

The agreement sets out a great deal of detail about such matters as meal breaks and overnight breaks, travel arrangements, insurance and the full range of questions that arise when an actor is engaged to work on a programme.
