Managing Media Projects - Managing the People : Industry Agreements (Actors, An Independent Production, 3)
It also provides for the producer to obtain the performers’ rights he/she needs from the actor. The basic fee buys a licence to a limited range of rights, according to what the producer foresees as the programme’s primary use, and the actor’s consent to secondary uses. When and as the programme is sold into secondary markets, the actor becomes entitled to further payments in the form of royalties.

The agreement specifies that actors may only be engaged under standard contracts which incorporate the terms of the agreement. These contracts are obtainable from Equity at (tel) 44 (0)207-379-6000, or from the Producers’ Industrial Relations Service (PIRS).

The full text of the agreement is available to PACT members only on the PACT website (http://www.pact.co.uk). You may also find the Equity website (http://www.equity.org.uk) useful.

Expert advice on interpretation and implementation of the agreement and contracts, and on the other matters mentioned in this page, may be obtained, again by PACT members only, from the PIRS at (tel) 44 (0)207-830-6600, or (e-mail) pirs@pact.co.uk.
