Managing
Media Projects - Managing
the People : Industry Agreements (Musicians, In-House BBC,
9)
The agreement also allows payment of lower fees (network
or regional) for a shorter day of 5 hours over 6, for Education, Religious,
Documentary, Instructional, Critical and Magazine programmes. In the case
of Documentary and Religious programmes, the transmitted items may not exceed
25% of the transmitted time of the whole programme.
Under both these types of engagement, overtime is permitted,
but the agreement envisages its taking place only in emergencies.
The agreement also caters for the recording or live transmission
of chamber music performances promoted by
organisations
other than the BBC, and of short items (5 minutes or less) from such performances
for inclusion in Education, Religious, Documentary, Instructional, Critical
and Magazine programmes.
This agreement, its working patterns and the fees that apply
to them may be used for the recording by chamber musicians (as defined) of
signature tunes and incidental music. It specifies additions to the basic
fees for the recording of incidental music for more than one episode of a
series or serial, and reductions in them for the recording of music for Schools
and Continuing Education programmes, both network and regional.
