Managing Media Projects - Managing the People : Industry Agreements (Musicians, In-House BBC, 12)

The agreement also caters for the recording or live transmission of performances by the categories of musician covered by it promoted by organisations other than the BBC, and of short items from such performances for inclusion in programmes of any kind. For short items, there are two levels of fee: for items not exceeding 5 minutes’ duration, and recorded in a session not exceeding one hour; and for items not exceeding 10 minutes’ duration, recorded in a session not exceeding two hours.

The agreement specifies fees payable to directors of music, organists, assistant organists, lay clerks and choristers in cathedrals and churches of similar status (except the lay clerks of Westminster Abbey, Westminster Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral, for whom fees and terms are negotiated by Equity, and described in the section dealing with Chorus Singers in the Actors section of these pages). Musicians of this kind are engaged by the day, for the working patterns described at the start of this section.
