Care in the community

Aid working

In 1999, many people fled their mixed villages for the safety of single ethnic communities. Six years later these enclaves are still scattered across Kosovo.

Forgiving and forgetting a very recent past is difficult and there is much fear and suspicion between the various ethnic groups.

Care International has been working with both those wishing to return to their former villages and the receiving communities that now live there.

Dragan Mihajlovic and his family are Serbs who want to return to their village that is now inhabited only by Kosovar-Albanians.

Edlira Musa and her young family will be Dragan’s neighbours.

Care has sent Azemina Cullum to prepare the two families to live together.
