6. For recording or miming to pre-recorded music in vision,
for films, drama programmes etc. Musicians are engaged for an 8-over-10-hour
day, during which up to 25 minutes of music may be recorded, or musicians
may mime up to 60 minutes of music. There is provision for additional performance
in blocks of 6 minutes, and for additional rehearsal either in 30-minute extensions
to the basic day or in separate 3-hour sessions on the same day or a different
day, in exchange for additional payments.
The agreement provides for reduced fees for musicians engaged
for programmes transmitted in one region only, for Basic 5-hour Sessions,
Discontinuous Recording Sessions
(not including signature tune sessions), and live or deferred broadcasts of
non-BBC promoted public performances and live or deferred broadcasts of BBC
promoted public performances, as described under 1, 2 and 4 above.
Detailed provisions in this agreement cover such matters
as fees to contractors providing musicians, payments for night work, additional
payments for work more than 16 miles from the centre of the city in which
the musician is based, additional payments for playing more than one instrument
(doubling), payments for porterage of specified large instruments, additional
