The agreement also deals with the acquisition of the performers’ rights of musicians engaged under it, and defines the uses licensed to the BBC on payment of the basic fees, and the further uses that may be licensed on payment of further fees. The agreement provides for reduced fees for musicians engaged for programmes transmitted in one region only, for Basic 5-

hour Sessions, Discontinuous Recording Sessions (not including signature tune sessions), and live or deferred broadcasts of non-BBC promoted public performances and live or deferred broadcasts of BBC promoted public performances, as described under 1, 2 and 4 above.
