Broadband

Broadband is the terminology used to describe a high bandwidth Internet connection. The service is able to transmit data much faster than a standard telephone connection and it is always connected to the Internet, eliminating the need to dial up. The higher the bandwidth the faster the data is transmitted.

Broadband can be delivered via cable or via a normal telephone line which is transformed into a high speed digital line, such as ADSL.

It is anticipated that it will be a long time before we get a large broadband population in the UK, but numbers are on the increase. The rules are changing with the arrival of Broadband and people now want speed as well as quality content.

At home broadband has made it possible to access a huge amount of information and entertainment, such as music on demand, online game playing, video, fast exchanges of pictures and information and continuous e-mail access. You can listen to Internet radio, watch live webcasts and enjoy a much richer content generally.

Broadband is helping small business and freelancers to break down the barriers between working at home and in an office environment by providing constant email access. Broadband is also increasing business efficiency with practical services such as video conferencing over IP.
