Commissioning

Overview

Commissioning is essentially the name given to the process of employing a company to produce a piece of work for another company. In media terms this can be for a broadcaster as well as for a client in the corporate market or other area. It can be a large or small project for television or interactive TV, an on-line service or website or it can be the production of graphics, animation or another art form.

The commissioning process varies for different mediums, so the commissioning process for radio will be different to that of the television or new media industry. There may also be different requirements when dealing with a corporate client as opposed to a broadcaster. In general however, no broadcasters will commission an idea from an individual, it must be proposed through a company for you.
