Commissioning

Budgets

Broadcasters will generally publicise the types of programmes or genres they are looking to commission and also their available budgets, so it is important to look at how broadcasters view the market and try to target your proposal to fit a particular niche. It is also important to be aware of current output across all channels so that you get an idea of the type and style of programming each produces to see where your idea will fit in. In the corporate market it is often the company who is pitching that will submit a budget with a proposal for approval from the commissioner.
