There are a number of interactive functions built
into the site that you should become familiar with. These are:
1.
Links to other websites
Throughout the text we have included links to other websites.
These include examples related to ideas in the text and the
websites
of major brands. It is important to follow these links so that
you can see marketing in practice. Many links are to trade bodies
related to marketing and to tourism and provide a gateway to
other substantial study materials. Some of the links however
are less
serious and are there just for fun.
2. Interviews with marketing
practitioners
Most of the basic text is based on 'text book' marketing theory,
however throughout the site we have included links to interviews
with senior marketing practitioners in leisure and tourism.
The links include text and sound, so you can listen to what
they
say and also study the text in more detail. These interviews
give you
an opportunity to understand what marketing practitioners actually
think and do. It is important that you compare what they say
with the 'text book' ideas.
3. Exercises
Each section also contains an exercise to allow you to put
what you have learnt into practice. We have included a variety
of
exercises that should test individual knowledge gained, allow
you to implement
some of the ideas that have been introduced and allow you
to discuss and debate your ideas about marketing with other
students. |
