What is Beta Edit Suite?
This is a tape based editing suite that gives an editor full control over three beta SP machines and a DVC PRO machine. A vision mixer gives a wide range of special effects and transitions, and captions can easily be created and layed onto tape. This is a linear suite, and so does not use a computer to control the editing. However, it does have its advantages, and is mostly available for Computer Animation students as they originate material onto Beta SP.

Background
Tape based edit suites were widely used in the school before the advent of nonlinear editing.

Notes
The Beta Edit Suite is only available to certain courses in the school. It is available for booking 24hours a day from the Production Office (P147).
