What is DVC PRO?
DVC PRO is the broadcast quality big brother of the Mini DV camcorders. The main difference is the size! This is a shoulder mounted camera, and doesnīt have a flip out LCD display. It does however boast higher definition pictures and the ability to set timecode.

Background
Digital camcorders are relatively new on the broadcast and domestic markets. New Although Digi-Beta has been around for a while, what we have here is a new generation of digital hardware. Not just cameras, but hard disks and broadcast transmission as well. Tapes donīt suffer from drop out of signal degradation as much as Beta SP camcorders used to.

Notes
The DVC PRO camcorder kits are available for booking from the Production Office (P147) and must be booked and signed for 24 hours prior to collection. A kit typically comprises of the camera, tripod, monitor, batteries, mains cables, lights, boom microphone and audio mixer. They are only available to BATV yrs 2 and 3, and MATV courses.
